The GDE has 563 markers for maths and 517 for physical science.

GAUTENG is not playing games with the matric results.

After a shortage of markers, the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has fast-tracked the process.

The GDE has 563 markers for maths and 517 for physical science.

The department has been given the green light for an early marking session that will run from 15 to 25 November 2025.

This urgent move is all about making sure there are enough people to mark every single paper and get all those exam scripts marked timeously and accurately.

The main marking job session is still set for 2 to 12 December.

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane gave a thumbs-up to the department's Examination Directorate for its quick thinking.

"Our collective focus remains on pupil safety, teaching continuity, and academic excellence," he said.

The GDE said it's committed to keeping schools safe and the exams running smoothly.

They're also working with the cops and municipalities to ensure their priorities are upheld.

The message is clear: no shortage will stop Gauteng from getting those results out.

As the matrics are sitting for the final exams, the Thembisa Local Taxi Association, which often transports pupils to and from schools, took time to wish them all the best in their exams.

Spokesman Noah Moleya said: "As the taxi industry, we stand proudly behind you. Remember, success comes through hard work and perseverance. Keep pushing and don't give up."
