Cape Town residents woke up to overcast skies on Thursday, with temperatures hovering around 15°C (59°F) — typical for the city’s winter season. Mostly cloudy conditions are expected to persist through the day, with a high of around 15.4°C (60°F).
Forecasters say the mild, damp pattern will continue into the weekend. Friday and Saturday should see similar highs in the 15–15.5°C range, with only a slim 10–20% chance of rain. However, conditions are expected to turn wetter by Sunday, when the chance of rain climbs to 35% as a weak front moves through the region.
By early next week, skies should clear again slightly, with Monday’s forecast showing a high near 15.7°C (60°F) and rain chances dropping back to 10%.
Residents are advised to keep a light jacket handy, as is typical during Cape Town’s winter months, when the Atlantic brings frequent cloud cover and occasional showers to the Western Cape.
