FORMER Kaizer Chiefs dribbling wizard Junior Khanye believes defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns are firmly on course to retain the Betway Premiership title this season.
The Brazilians currently sit at the top of the league standings, leading the table by two points, with rivals Orlando Pirates chasing closely behind in second place as the title race heats up.
Speaking on Marawa Sports Worldwide on 947, Khanye praised Sundowns' championship mentality, saying their experience in high-pressure competitions give them a clear advantage over the rest of the league.
"They know how to win. It's a very experienced team. They play Champions League football every year, and that prepares them mentally. They've reached their peak at the right time," said Khanye.
The former winger believes Sundowns' regular participation in the CAF Champions League has strengthened the squad psychologically, making them difficult to stop during the business end of the season.
"I don't see Sundowns losing games. They understand how to manage pressure - home and away. That CAF experience prepares you mentally and physically," he added.

Khanye, who made a name for himself at Chiefs as one of the country's most naturally gifted players before transitioning into football analysis, has become known for bold and honest opinions about the local game.
He also singled out young star Relebohile Mofokeng as his favourite for Player of the Season honours despite Pirates' title challenge.
"For me, Rele is the Player of the Season. He's very influential and one of the best talents we have. If he were born in Brazil, he would already be nominated for the Ballon d'Or," Khanye said.
However, the outspoken analyst believes Pirates may have hurt themselves by allowing striker Tshegofatso Mabasa to leave previously, arguing that the Buccaneers have missed a natural finisher in crucial matches.
Looking ahead, Khanye expects Sundowns' consistency and squad depth to carry them through the remaining fixtures, insisting even ambitious sides such as Polokwane City will struggle to slow down the reigning champions.
With momentum on their side and rivals chasing, Khanye believes the Betway Premiership trophy is once again heading to Chloorkop.
