The forum claimed the evidence presented so far is “just the tip of the iceberg” and alleged that more revelations involving prominent politicians are still to come.

THE Activists and Citizens Forum says Major-General Feroz Khan cannot escape the truth as the Madlanga Commission continues to hear explosive evidence.

In a statement issued on Saturday, 4 July, the organisation said communication messages allegedly from General Khan's electronic devices, presented by evidence leader Advocate Adila Hassim before the Madlanga Commission, were placing the senior police officer under increasing pressure.

The forum claimed the evidence presented so far is "just the tip of the iceberg" and alleged that more revelations involving prominent politicians are still to come.

The organisation also referred to testimony by Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi before Parliament's ad hoc committee, where he alleged that General Khan is the richest police officer in South Africa and challenged MPs to investigate the source of his wealth.

The forum said it believes the Madlanga Commission will uncover how Khan allegedly accumulated his wealth.

It further expressed concern over allegations that senior police officer General Molefe Fani was involved in facilitating illegal tenders.

The Activists and Citizens Forum praised the Madlanga Commission for continuing with its proceedings despite the absence of one of the witnesses.

"It has become clear that there are questionable applications for postponements and the time is running out for the commission," the statement reads.

The organisation alleged that some witnesses are using delaying tactics to avoid accountability.

"Some of the witnesses think that they will escape accountability by using delaying tactics. Unfortunately for them, they are wrong. There is no place to hide."

The forum also noted that several witnesses have made serious allegations before the commission linking Major General Khan to the drug underworld and claiming he enjoyed protection from senior politicians. Those allegations have not been tested or proven.

The Activists and Citizens Forum said it wants corrupt police officers, politicians and government officials to be held accountable and called for a complete overhaul of the South African Police Service, saying it wants a police service free from corruption, criminal syndicates and drug cartels.
