LEGENDARY actor Sello Maake KaNcube is using his talent and skills to change lives.
The 66-year-old star, who has graced screens in Generations, Scandal!, The Queen and Rockville has launched a creative community to help young artists find their feet in the tough entertainment industry.
Through the Sello Maake KaNcube Foundation NPO, the veteran actor has created a WhatsApp-based platform offering free mentorship, masterclasses, performance coaching and real industry guidance, and it's free.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Sello said this move comes from a deeper place in his life.
"This stage of my life is about clarity and purpose. I have lived the work, the triumphs, the disappointments, the sacrifices, and I now understand that experience only has value if it is shared. I reached a point where accumulation no longer mattered as much as contribution. This community is my way of ensuring that what I have learnt does not end with me, but becomes a bridge for others," he said.
Sello said too many talented people are left behind because no one shows them the way.
"Achievement without legacy is incomplete. Our industry has benefited from many gifted people whose knowledge was never transferred, and generations were left to start from zero. I don't want that to continue.

"Mentorship is not charity. It's a responsibility. I stand on the shoulders of those who came before me, and it's only right that I offer my shoulders to those coming after," Sello said.
The actor said the industry can be brutal, especially for newcomers.
"There's a serious lack of honest guidance. Young creatives are often celebrated for talent but abandoned when it comes to sustainability. Nobody teaches them how to survive rejection, how to manage ego, how to stay disciplined, or how to endure long careers. This initiative fills the gap between talent and longevity between dreams and reality," the actor said.
Sello said those who join the platform must be ready for real talk, not shortcuts.
"They can expect truth, not hype. This is a space for learning, reflection, and growth. Members will have access to mentorship conversations, free masterclasses, performance guidance, and open dialogue about the realities of the industry. It's not about fame. It's about preparation, character, and excellence."
He said the goal is to help artists think beyond chasing fame.
"Sustainability comes from understanding the business, respecting the craft, protecting one's spirit, and building community by teaching them to think beyond the next role. When artists learn to see themselves as lifelong practitioners rather than momentary stars, their careers become rooted and resilient," added Sello.
