MZANSI'S favourite cop is back on Scandal!
Actor, Thapelo Aphiri (41) has returned to Scandal! as Javas, and fans are buzzing with excitement.
After being off-screen for over a year, Thapelo is ready to bring a fresh take to the character we all love.
"I think the last time I was on Scandal! was around November 2024. So, I wasn't on TV the entire last year. I'm coming back into a new world, which is Ethembeni, but the police station where Javas usually shoots scenes is still familiar territory for him," he said.
Being back on set has been a thrill for Thapelo.
"It feels amazing. For any actor, a chance to stand under the lights and do what you love is exciting. Last year, I focused on admin work, so being back in the dressing room, working with co-stars and hearing the director's countdown is a blessing," he said.
While he was away, Thapelo worked on building his own projects.

"I spent last year establishing my company and figuring out how to use my 15 to 20 years of experience in the arts," said the actor.
"I've been offering team-building solutions through theatre and trying to get into the corporate space. It's not easy, but I'm working on it."
Fans are curious about what's next for Javas and Thapelo promises a softer side to the character.
"Javas has always been a tough guy, but deep down, he's soft. I've always tried to show him as an everyday guy who just became a cop. He's not the smartest or the toughest, but he loves the law. I hope viewers will feel nostalgic as the show comes to an end," he said.
Speaking about the end of Scandal!, Thapelo shared his emotions.
"Last year gave me a chance to mourn the end of it. I wasn't on the show, so I dealt with the loss then. But it's sad knowing some of my colleagues might not find work after this. It's like saying goodbye to family," he said.
