AMAPIANO star Bontle Smith is working on a new EP.
She said her journey in the music industry has transformed her life.
The 37-year-old musician and dancer from Thembisa, Ekurhuleni has become a prominent voice in the amapiano genre, earning recognition as a vocalist, singer, songwriter, and performer.
Bontle, whose real name is Bontle Mabotlhale Smith, made history as the first female artist signed under DJ Maphorisa's BLAQBOY Music label.
She's best known for her collaborations with industry heavyweights such as DJ Maphorisa and Cassper Nyovest.
Her rise in the genre mirrors the rapid evolution of amapiano itself, a sound she believes is far from reaching its peak.
"Music in general is evolving, especially amapiano. From where we started in 2019 to now, it has changed, and it has evolved," she said.
"I don't think amapiano is going anywhere. It's here to stay and we're going to keep growing and we're going to keep evolving," she said.
Music has always been a passion rooted in her early years. But stepping into the professional space has reshaped her life in profound ways.

"I think I just loved music from a very, very young age. And being in this space, the amapiano space, has changed my life dramatically because I've grown financially. My view on life and music has changed in a very positive way," said Bontle.
She revealed that she's working on new music, with plans to release an EP.
Details remain under wraps, but she hinted at a carefully curated project.
"I'm working on my EP. I'm just not sure when I'm going to drop it, but I've started. I can't really reveal much, but one thing I can tell you I'm going to be very strategic and very specific with my collaborations," she added.
