NEARLY three years after her husband Mampintsha's death, the Queen of Gqom, Babes Wodumo, is still mourning.
Mampintsha, real name Mandla Maphumulo, died aged 40 on 24 December 2022 after suffering a minor stroke.
After all this time, Babes Wodumo says not a single day passes without her missing her late hubby.
"I miss him every day. He was my best friend, my brother, more than just a husband to me. We had a strong connection. We still have a strong connection even though he's gone," said Babes Wodumo.
The Lamontville, Durban-born artist, whose real name is Bongekile Simelane, said it's been hard to move on in life.

"I know I've been the subject of rumours about being romantically involved with other people, but the only person who knows the truth is me. The only person who feels this pain of missing someone, knowing very well that he's gone forever, is me," she said.
"I feel like I'm still wearing mourning clothes. That guy was inja yami (my dog). We had each other's backs. We were loyal to each other. It's also difficult to focus when I'm in the studio. But as a mum, I have to be strong for our son."
The couple collaborated on many hit songs, including Wololo, Otshwaleni, and Gandaganda.
Babes said she still keeps in touch with her in-laws, the Maphumulo family.
She recently posted a photo of herself with Mampintsha's dad Thembinkosi Maphumulo, on social media.
