Safa is taking us nowhere

The South African Football Association (Safa), as a body of football in our country, needs to allow former national players of Bafana Bafana to be part of its administrative structure.

The South African Football Association (Safa), as a body of football in our country, needs to allow former national players of Bafana Bafana to be part of its administrative structure.

The experience of retired soccer stars is important in positioning the standard of football in our country. We need their views when addressing issues that are affecting the well-being of players and referees as well as in marketing football in general.

Safa can’t be used by politicians as a tool to keep those politically connected on the payroll while they don’t have the interests of the sport at heart. Mzansi has produced many exceptional coaches and players who are overlooked as they are not politically connected.

Our country cannot be a global competitor in football as long as people with political ambitions continue to lead Safa.
