The North West provincial government should try by all means to revive Mahikeng Airport to create employment, boost the economy and eradicate poverty in the province.
Mahikeng is the capital city of the province and is not far from the Botswana border.
It has been more than 10 years since Mahikeng Airport's international licence was lent to Pilanesberg International Airport.
Pilanesberg airport is there, but it doesn't help people who want to fly from OR Tambo International Airport to Mahikeng. People are forced to drive a long distance.
Mahikeng Airport remains an empty structure that was once seen as a potential key strategic infrastructure.
It needs to be fixed and commercialised for economic activities and job creation in the province.
