Nuclear war will destroy all of us

Finland and Sweden have expressed eagerness to join Nato, an alliance that has outlived its WWII mandate.

Finland and Sweden have expressed eagerness to join Nato, an alliance that has outlived its WWII mandate.

As the trajectory of events in Europe unfolds, the grim spectre of full-scale nuclear holocaust becomes a potent reality as Russia deploys massive nuclear power on its borders.

Russia has 6 225 nuclear warheads while the USA has 5 500.

In a first strike by either side, using only 100 warheads could result in the end of civilization.

Studies graphically reveal that the consequences would include catastrophic disruptions of global climate and destruction of the planet’s protective ozone layer.

A global famine would result from such a war that would cause up to two billion people to starve to death.

This is on top of the roughly 500 million people who would be killed in Russia and the USA.

Nuclear deterrence is a myth and a lethal one at that. It continues to dominate international relations.

Yet, there’s neither proof that it ever worked nor it ever will.

Nuclear weapons are the most destructive, inhuman and indiscriminate weapons ever created.

During all its history, it seems that humanity has not learnt a thing about the stupidity of war and it’s horrors.

The possibility today of a nuclear exchange in view of events unfolding in Europe will make all the wars in history combined pale into insignificance.

Any civilization that reaches full-scale nuclear capability is bound to destroy itself sooner or later.

Let this be a sombre warning to humanity and its collective future.
