National Water Week, which runs from 21 to 27 March this year, is a reminder to use water wisely as South Africa is a water scarce country.

Water is central to all aspects of life. Basically, nothing survives without water.

We need to use every available drop of water wisely as we cannot afford to lose even a single drop.

Wise water use and water resource protection are important to ensure a reliable and sustainable water supply, leading to water security for the current and future generations.

Prevent water losses by fixing leaks and reporting leaks in the bulk pipelines to the relevant authorities.

We must always be responsible citizens and protect our water resources as pollution is a major challenge to quality water supply.

The security of South Africa’s water supply depends on us, so let us be responsible.
