The best place to raise a child is in a home where discipline and open communication are combined.

Parents should find the balance between being firm and yet empathetic.

Every child is unique and different behaviour requires a special approach to parenting. Creating a structured environment at home makes children thrive. Children heed the parents' guidance better when their family routines are regular, predictable and consistent. A stable environment, unconditional love and the right discipline provide a strong bond between the child and caregiver. Children grow well in a dependable and safe living space.

A secure and protective environment shapes a child's perspective of themselves and the world around them. Parenting styles have evolved tremendously since the 20th century and the new dynamics can be tricky if you aren't careful. Gone are the days when whipping or smacking a child used to be a form of discipline. Today, it's viewed as child abuse and can drive your child out of home.

Before blaming kids for misbehaving, we need to check first if we are raising them in accordance with new dynamics.

  • Of course, Nancy. Things have changed a lot and modern day parents must accept that.

The environment in which children grow up today is extremely different from the past. One of the biggest drivers of the differences is technology. While most children had to make do with old tyres and climbing trees as part of their development, today's kids have so much at their disposal. Sometimes, this technology can have a negative impact on children and that's why I agree with you that parents must also evolve in their methods of parenting.
