It is unfortunate that foreigners are always crucified and victimised by virtue of circumstances to the country's problems and challenges. They are easy targets as they are always the sheep taken to the slaughter house.
Hatred toward foreigners is a cause for concern, but how quick are we to forget their country's roles in our liberation struggle.
It's only a few who come to our shores with ulterior motives. The majority has good intentions.
We accuse them of taking our jobs and women.
Many citizens rely heavily on foreigners and score big in rent money, yet we mob-psychologise each other and loudly sing "they must go".
They leave their countries due to civil wars and other circumstances beyond their control. Most of us don't realise the importance of something when you have it. Reality sinks in when it's gone.
Who fixes your shoes? Who runs hair salons, vegetable stalls and push trolleys to sell at your doorstep?
Truth be told, South Africans are picky when it comes to work. Many are lazy and lack work experience. Let's take a leaf out of the foreigners' book.
