Eskom’s problems too deep - Abigail Ledubuko, Bochum

It’s reported that Eskom loses more than R700 million a year as a result of illegal connections.

It's reported that Eskom loses more than R700 million a year as a result of illegal connections.

It seems the power utility can't do anything to stop the theft of its electricity.

This is unfair on customers who are buying electricity.

They are also paying for those who are stealing.

What makes Eskom problems worse is its maladministration.

If the power utility was professionally run even from the times of former president Jacob Zuma, things would have been better now.

Corruption destroyed everything and the public is suffering the consequences.

My questions is: how long are Eskom customers going to pay for those who steal electricity?

The power utility must come up with a plan to give squatter camps legal electricity. Then everyone can buy electricity cheaper.
