Blacks always on the receiving end

By Kgothatso Mphuthi, Chiawelo

Townships were established as labour reserves. Blacks were banished to homelands and only came to the cities and farming areas as cheap labour.

Even township planning was in such a way that there would be no comfort and growth, but to squeeze blacks in small pieces of land.

Firstly, the current government should have started with ensuring that black workers were paid the same as their white counterparts.

During apartheid, white farmers were the worst payers and are still paying low wages. They make huge profits after successful harvests and give black farmworkers crumbs.

On the other hand, they have enough to sponsor AfriForum, Freedom Front Plus and other minority rights groups to advocate for the continuation of the status quo.
