Limpopo police are on high alert as millions of ZCC pilgrims travel to Moria for the Easter long weekend.

LIMPOPO police say they're ready to keep holidaymakers safe as thousands hit the road for the long weekend.

The province is expected to be very busy. Thousands of travellers are heading to Moria. This is where members of the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) and the St Engenas Zion Christian Church will gather for their annual Easter services.

Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe said that cops are fully prepared to deal with any crime.

"The safety of our communities remains our top priority. We are fully mobilised and ready to clamp down on crime," said Hadebe.

She warned that with more cars on the road, traffic safety will be a big focus.

Drivers are urged to behave, follow the rules, and work with the police to avoid deadly crashes. Communities are also asked to report suspicious activities to help keep their areas safe.

Meanwhile, Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba welcomed visitors. She reminded road users to drive safely. The province hosts two of the country's biggest churches, bringing millions of people to Moria every year.

"These gatherings promote unity and boost the economy, but road safety must come first," she said.

The premier said tiredness is a major killer on the roads, urging drivers to rest every two hours or after 200km.

Transport deputy minister Mkhuleko Hlengwa also approved the plan. This came after he met ZCC leader Barnabas Lekganyane on Wednesday, 31 March.

He said the government has put a solid transport safety plan in place and "they're confident everything is ready for a safe Easter period".
