THE brutal killing of Lekgompo music sensation Feugo Baswele Mfana has taken a dramatic new twist, with police slapping the accused with an additional charge of attempted murder.
Daily Sun can reveal that Feugo's alleged killers, July Mashishi and Lucas Mothiba, already charged with murder, are now facing an attempted murder charge.
This comes after they allegedly tried to gun down the artist's friend, known as Makwena, during the violent altercation that ended in Feugo's death.
Additional charges confirmed
Limpopo police spokesman Malesela Ledwaba confirmed that Mashishi and Mothiba are facing the additional charge of attempted murder.
"We can confirm the additional charges of attempted murder by the court," he said.
Although Ledwaba did not want to reveal who allegedly fired the shot that missed the artist's friend, he confirmed that the firearm belonged to Mashishi.
"The firearm, according to our investigations, belonged to Mashishi," he said.
What happened that night

According to information received, Mashishi and Mothiba arrived at Feugo and fellow artist Lepaka's rented flat in Bendor, Polokwane, and allegedly started wreaking havoc as they demanded a woman who was in their company.
It's alleged that during the commotion, Mashishi and Mothiba damaged the lights in the flat.
During the escalation, a shot was allegedly fired at the artist's friend Makwena, but the bullet missed.

Mashishi then allegedly fired a shot at Feugo, who was also Lepaka's producer. He sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body and was rushed to the nearest hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Suspects arrested at cop shop

The suspects allegedly drove to Polokwane Police Station, where they informed cops that they had fired shots at people who had allegedly kidnapped the woman.
While they were giving their account, police received a call from hospital staff where Feugo had been admitted. The staff informed cops that a gunshot victim had been admitted and that anyone reporting the incident should be arrested.
Mashishi and Mothiba were subsequently arrested and detained at the Polokwane cop shop holding cells.
Court appearance
They appeared in the Polokwane Magistrates Court on Thursday, 16 April 2026, but were remanded in custody. They're expected to appear in the same court again on Monday, 20 April 2026, for a formal bail application.
During their court appearance, Mashishi asked the court to allow him to go to hospital for medical attention. He did not disclose the nature of his medical condition.
Presiding Magistrate Rodgers Machovane authorised his hospitalisation.
