Misheck Makora
Multimedia News Reporter
I am a journalist with more than 10 years of experience in news reporting across different beats. Throughout my career, I have built strong skills in gathering, verifying and presenting accurate information in a clear and balanced manner. I am committed to ethical journalism, accuracy and fairness, and I strive to produce stories that are relevant and informative. I have four years of experience as a parliamentary reporter, covering legislative processes, government policy, political developments and public administration. This role strengthened my understanding of governance, public institutions and the legislative environment, while also enhancing my ability to analyse complex issues and explain them in a way that is easy for readers to understand. My current reporting focuses on courts, crime, government, service delivery and local government. I have developed strong source-building, interviewing and investigative skills, enabling me to report confidently on developing and sensitive issues while maintaining professionalism and accuracy. In addition to print journalism, I have multimedia journalism skills that allow me to produce content for digital audiences. I am experienced in writing for online platforms, creating video content, recording and editing voice-overs, taking photographs and using social media to engage audiences and share news effectively. I am also comfortable working with digital publishing tools and meeting tight deadlines in fast-paced newsroom environments. I work well both independently and as part of a team. I am adaptable, organised and able to manage multiple assignments while maintaining high editorial standards. My goal is to produce quality journalism that informs the public, promotes accountability and contributes meaningfully to public discourse.
