There was massive evacuation at the Global Tech headquarters in Joburg central on Thursday, 11 June.
Wailing sirens filled the streets as people ran towards exits like wild animals.
This is because someone left the stove on in the kitchen area and they don’t even have a stove or a kitchen!
The smell of burning rubber filled the air, leaving everyone coughing badly.
However, it turned out it was Mike, an intern, who was drifting his car in the reception area on the ground floor and the smoke from his tyres set off the smoke detectors in the whole building.

- The damages to the front desk is severe and would cost about 50 cents to fix.
- The receptionist was very angry and even threw her stapler at the car, breaking the window of the building next door across the street.
- On top of that, firefighters had their ladders, but forgot the water at the fire station.
Everyone then went home early, with the company releasing a memo saying drifting is only allowed on Fridays after 5pm.
Mike lost his driver’s licence, but said he didn’t care as he walks to work anyway.
The reception area is now used as a race track for the local kids.
