MKHUKHU Pizza is tasty and delicious, and yes, it’s prepared in a shack.
Business owner Themba Limekhaya (40) from Lotus Gardens in Phase 4, Tshwane started his business in 2021 in Orange Farm, south of Joburg.
He told Daily Sun that the business started in kasi with local recipes.
He said it has flavours such as russians, pilchards, and bacon.
He pleads for a mobile kitchen with a pizza oven, gas or wood fired.
“People support me although I’m struggling to accommodate my customers as I use a two plate which has an oven. My challenge is electricity,” he said.
Themba appeals for donors, but at the moment he uses what he has.
He said he ventured into the pizza business after his job as an event photographer ended because of Covid-19.

“The pizza business was supported a lot in Orange Farm, but people who wanted to sponsor me couldn’t because I did not have a permanent place. I don’t have a permanent place of work even now,” he said.
He said he makes six to eight pizzas a day but wants to adjust this when he gets bigger equipment.
His small pizza costs R30, medium costs R70, while a large pizza costs R100.
He said he serves up to 12 customers on a good day and makes R600.
Themba said he had six workers in Orange Farm, but he is still establishing himself.
“My long-term goal is to open my own outlet, Mkhukhu Pizza and follow up with a franchise,” he said.
He pleads for a mobile kitchen with a pizza oven, gas or wood fired.
Faith Mpofu (40) said the mkhukhu pizza is a real deal in kasi as it is delicious.
“We support him. He is a good chef,” she said.
